Lee's Dreams

My friend Lee has the most vivid dreams of any human in history. She can even remember the tiniest details about these subconscious journeys, while my own dreams are swallowed by the early morning fog creeping into my bedroom the moment the alarm rings. There was one dream I had last year that I remembered: I had a bright electric-blue owl for a pet. He was round, cute, and slept in my arms. Other than my friend the owl, I rarely recall what happens in my REM moments. Lee, however, is just the opposite.
Every few days or so she begins the day by telling me: “I had the craziest dream last night…” – the one that I especially loved was the one about Elvis in the red velvet elevator. That was hot. Today, she began the day by saying: “I had a dream about you last night.” Wow. I’m so excited by this news I can hardly wait for details.
Apparently, Lee and her sister were reading P&C this weekend, especially my entry about Happy Hours. She thinks this was the beginning of the dream.
It seems that in Lee’s dream, she and her sister got in a car and came over to my house for a happy hour, but upon arrival they looked around and realized that they were at my house in Italy.
“You lived in this beautiful house in Tuscany, right in the middle of a vineyard – and you were married…”
“Who was I married to?”
“I don’t know – I didn’t meet him, but you were so happy! You said it was really hard for you to move there, change your whole life and move away from your friends, but that you were totally content and happy to be living on a vineyard in Italy.”
“Was it like the Stealing Beauty house?”
“Totally. And I think your husband was a winemaker or something. And then when we wanted to leave I didn’t know how I was going to drive us home from Italy.”
“Was I a total fat Nona living in Italy?”
“No! You looked fantastic – you were so happy and in love…”
“Gosh – that’s a good dream.”
