What's Happening on P&C!

kiss4francisco.jpgHello out there in readerland! Yes, there's been a bit of minor renovations going on at Poetic & Chic, and I'm here to tell you all about it.

First of all, you will notice that there is now an "Editor's Letter" section which I plan to update about once a month with a recap of what's been happening and a forecast of what's coming up. (To the point, it will explain the very things I'm explaining to you right now in this post...) P&C is a hard-working little site, doing everything it can to generate interest and a network of online friends and promotional opportunities. That is the kind of thing I'll tell you about in the monthly "Editor's Letter" - oooh, and it sounds like a proper magazine too!

Second, I've reorganized the links into two groups: Blogs & Things, and Ideas & Inspiration. I found that "Favorites" was far too general, and while I don't want to break out my links into a thousand different groups, I thought that these two distinctions were appropriate.  So, Blogs & Things lists the well-considered and well-edited list (have you seen how many "fashion" blogs there are out there, and most of them have nothing to do with fashion?) of blogs that I read and want affiliated with Poetic & Chic. There is great, creative content here with my favorite voices in independent writing in fashion, craft, current events, culture, and whatnot...

A few of the outstanding mentions in Blogs & Things:

Curious Bird - a blog of quilting, craft, and a beautiful life by Leya Williams...

The Glossy - written by someone calling themselves "The Glossy Ed" who seems to travel the world and style-spot very very well...

Knits & Pieces - a knitting blog by a woman named Jenna who is as passionate and humorous about knitting as most people are about their weird cats...

Oh Joy! - written by a freelance textile, home accessories, and graphic designer in Philadelphia...named Joy...

The Visa Diaries -  "Tales of Life and Love Through Shopping" with deliciously artistic interpretations of the product-of-the-moment in pen-and-ink sketches - lovely!

Of course, there are still my old favorites:

Chocolate & Zucchini - food writing from Clotilde  Dusoulier in Paris...

La Coquette - by Elisabeth Fourmont, also in Paris...

Lola is Beauty -  well, Lola is the name of her cat, who sounds like one awesome kitty, owned by this hilariously charming writer/fashion stylist from London...I think her name is Claire...

Surfeited with Dainties - Michael Brendan Dougherty is great at keeping me in the loop on things I really should know and care about, and a few things that are really just a lark...His site is akin to "doing serious things without taking ourselves seriously..." except when we do...

Another most-honorable mention is Julie Fredrickson's blog Almost Girl. Her tagline is "Where Plato and Prada Meet" - nuff said about that! Julie is also the co-founder of Coutorture, a community of nearly 200 fashion, beauty, streetwear, and perfume blogs - of which Poetic & Chic is proudly a member!

Poetic & Chic is likewise now a member of both Stylehive and Iqons too... I know, those are some incredibly chic words to be throwing around, but I'll explain. Stylehive is a collaborative shopping community - sort of a group blog, where contributors find the latest & greatest in products (fashion, accessories, home, design, anything...) and create their own "hives" of favorites while sharing in the main "hive". This is a great way to shop without spending any money! You can pick your favorite things, regardless of price, appropriateness, or whatever...and keep track of them in your own little space. Such fun! The badge at the bottom right of P&C showcases some of the picks from the Poetic & Chic hive on Stylehive.com.  Iqons was referred to me by a fellow blogger - it is also an online community involving all types from the fashion industry, creating a sort of MySpace for fashionistas. It's an interesting idea, so I'm giving it a whirl, although I detest things remotely modeled on MySpace - ugh! Hopefully Iqons will indeed represent the best of the best.

The Ideas & Inspiration section is the same as before, linking to different food, craft, and culture sites where one may find...ideas & inspiration! It's very simple and worth a look.

Of course, there's always something worth seeing on P&C, and I always love to hear your feedback! Please leave comments and send emails! Thanks so much for all of your support and encouragement over the past six months...oh yeah, did I mention that? Poetic & Chic has survived it's first six months!

HOORAY! Clap Clap!
