Top O'the Year

Engineers work on the Times Square ball...
I have a firm "no resolutions" policy when it comes to the new year - every new year. I don't do resolutions. It's not that I'm irresolute, I just try to do my best with everything I do, so why do I need to resolve to do things at only one time of the year?
I really liked what Meg over at Faking Good Breeding said about her resolutions - check it out! I think the whole point of resolutions is to develop healthy habits, best practices (not for business, but for life,) and to start fresh. This is a noble idea, but I'm one of those people who is so optimistic that I think new chances like this happen more frequently than simply once a year. Every day is a new day and all that. A friend of mine started to say "top o'the year" last week - her little expression for projects, etc, that were to be explored after January 1st. Well, we are officially at the top o'the year, and like one arriving at a high peak after a long hike, I think we all should look around and take in the view.
Let me start out by saying that seven is a very lucky number (I mentioned that before,) and I'm very happy to have a full year with the number in the date - no matter what. Also, I should say that this past year has been one of my most difficult; with my big birthday, and a new year that's a seven, I feel as though the duldrums of aught-six are fading away. Two good things that did come out of last year? Well, Poetic & Chic, of course, as well as the Wildflower Triathlon. (I went to a holiday party a few weeks ago and saw a few of my tri team friends...and let's just say, handsome and fit men are just another bonus to the whole deal. Oh my, and tri season is upon us again...yum!) Other than continuing with these very healthy habits, ahem, I do have a few of the traditional things that I plan to work on in double-oh seven...
The main thing for me will be to continue to work toward a rewarding career that challenges me, pays me more, and makes me want to do my best every day. This aspiration is all part of a bigger ideal wherein I can travel, learn new things, share my gifts wherever I can, and just enjoy life a bit more. Another big goal will be to get and keep my financial house in order, for good - debt is just so not sexy. And speaking of sexy, I intend to work at that too. I just mean that there's something to be said for consistency in the beauty regimen. Good skin care, good eating (less drinking,) exercise, haircuts, manicures, etc. Yes, it's all very decadent to go get a facial, but it actually is good for you too.
I like things that are good for me. Maybe that should be my theme for 2007 - "the good-for-me year"! What do you think?
