Bravo Hat Trick

You know how it is, you start a new job, meet new colleagues, and slowly but surely your little stories start to come out to play. On my first day of my new job I went to lunch with my team, and we had a round-table of "what's your claim to fame...?" or "what's your weird talent...?" or "what's the craziest thing you've ever done...?" Call it what you will, we all know how it's played; it's the fun, less-risky version of truth-or-dare. Everyone laughs and everyone blushes.
I learned that one of my coworkers is a speed reader, while another one was once a dancer for an NBA basketball team - yes, it's a team in Los Angeles, and it's dance troupe has some famous alums... So what did they learn about me? I timidly admitted that I had auditioned for the first season of Project Runway a few years ago. What can I say, I had just finished fashion school, was trying to get over a boyfriend, and I went a little nuts. It happens. Suffice it to say, I did not make the cut largely based upon...well, let's just say I've never believed much of what Tim Gunn says on that show. Many friends encouraged another go at the auditions for seasons two and three, but personally I think once is enough.
Anyways, after this story we talk about some of the odd jobs we've done in the past. I don't know why, but no one ever believes me when I tell them I was a line cook in college. Why is this so hard to believe? I cook all the time, I write about food, I enjoy restaurants...why shouldn't it follow that I have experience in the food industry? I loved being a line cook - the pace, the challenge, the teamwork - it was the one job where I can honestly say I learned something new every day.
It is at this point that one of my new colleagues comes up with a brilliant idea, pitched to me thus: "So you've already gone out for Project Runway, you used to be a chef...and now you work in home design - you could go for all three! The tri-fecta of Bravo shows!" Is he actually telling me I should go out for Top Chef, Top Design, and Project Runway - again? Interesting idea. It's like the Bravo TV All Stars or something. Is this kind of thing possible? Is there such a person who embodies such multi-facted aesthetic talent across all three fields? Could this person be me? I suppose that's one way to turn oneself into a lifestyle brand...
Okay, so it's really just an office joke that isn't dying the way it should even a few weeks after the fact, but I have to say that the idea is fun to consider. The titles of "Top Chef", "Top Designer", and "America's Next Great Fashion Designer" all in one? That would be hotter than Heidi Klum, Tom Colicchio, and Jonathan Adler combined...is that possible?
