June: Black Pumps
Sunday, June 10, 2007 at 11:18PM There are so many fantastic black pumps around these days - and who can ever have too many of those? There were far too many to chose from, but after much deliberation I was able to narrow it down to this fantastic short-list of new classics and stylish standbys. This ten proves that there's nothing boring about basic black!
Let's begin with a basic - black patent, square toed, not too high, not too low - perfect. These are by Dolce & Gabbana, offering that lovely dose of leopard luxury for the wearer alone.
Dolce & Gabbana Square-Toed Pumps - $495 at Saks Fifth Avenue
Christian Louboutin ALWAYS offers more fabulous black pumps at any one time than a girl could possibly choose from, but if I had to choose, I'd choose these beauties. I love the open-toe, allowing for a little bit of sexiness in an otherwise "everyday" pump. The slight shape to the sides also bring that little bit of unexpected interest...
Christian Louboutin Patent Peep-Toe Pumps - $510 at Saks Fifth Avenue
I chose these shoes by Delman because of their little details - the leatherwork is reminiscent of a man's wingtip, while the small buckle at the toe adds a dose of sass without being obtrusive. I can totally imagine these with some fabulous trousers or jeans at just about any time of year.
Delman Motion - $385 at Piperlime.com
But, for when I'm in the mood for a bigger buckle, I can't resist these beauties from Prada. The pointed toe and over-scale buckle has echoes of the classic Roger Vivier's from Belle de Jour, but with a modern update for today.
Prada Patent Buckle Pump - $480 at Neiman Marcus
Now these are nothing if not fun. I love an otherwise basic-looking shoe with that bit of unforeseen punch. In this case, it's the substantial glitter heel that will carry you through the work day and well into happy hour. Full of personality - these Taryn by Taryn Rose pumps are some I gotta have!
Oooh la love these babies from Ralph Lauren! (When was the last time you loved some of his shoes?) They're classic without being stuffy, full of sex-appeal and a modern wearability with their platform.
In all honesty, I should admit that these very shoes were the incubus of this post. I spotted them and thought "hmmm...black pumps!" I love these black croc patent pumps by Anyl Lu - the unusual shape, the texture, the wearable heel. These would definitely be a daily stand-by in my closet!
I know from experience that Dior makes some of the best shoes - they're balanced, comfortable, and envy-inducing. After all, isn't that why we all buy shoes? I love these classic Dior pumps - perfect for jeans, skirts...whatever!
Every girl loves a great pair of Mary Janes, and these Manolo Blahnik updates are fabulous! A classic Mary Jane like the little girls used to have, but sexed-up with a flash of toe and a sky-high heel. Sigh!
These cut eyelet pumps are delicate, ladylike, and lovely - especially at this time of year. These would be perfect with a full skirt on a sunny day, or as a counterpoint to a crisp white suit.
