Deliciousness

smore.jpgSince I have nothing to write about, (okay, that's a lie - I have plenty to write about, just no time to do it,) I've decided to pass along some of my favorite internet things of the week.

First of all, this post from She's a Betty all about making S'mores from dark chocolate Petit Ecoliers is simple and decadent. We were talking about this while camping at Wildflower, but it seemed like a mere urban foodie myth - so glad someone actually put it in writing!

As if that weren't enough to make your mouth water, Michael Mattis has launched his new site Vinapedia - a wine site for the rest of us. I have been slowly reading through the veritable font of oenopilia that I'm feeling as though I were back at UC Davis taking VEN3. That's Viticulture-Enology 3, kids, a very basic wine class I took to fulfill one of my three undergraduate prerequisites in science. Even we art and English majors need to convert moles every so often. With Vinapedia in mind, I laughed my way through the new Aardman animation series of "Creature Comforts" which debuted on CBS this past Monday. (You may remember the original Creature Comforts short film that garnered an Oscar a few years back; this was before Gromit's unibrow and Wallace's trousers made Nick Park famous. I highly recommend adding the original Creature Comforts to your Netflix queue if you've never seen it.) When the new show aired, I instantly thought of Mr. Mattis and his new venture and told him so. He then sent me this link to the episode to keep me laughing.

You may already know Mr. Mattis from his work over at Dandyism.net, where the pocket square and ascot still reign supreme. While he and a few other fellows I know rock this accessory like they were born to it, (namely my brother-in-law, and Michael Brendan Dougherty, among others,) a few years back this little whisper of silk was rarely seen outside of Whartonian-era private clubs, or reruns of Dynasty. But the pocket square is back for the men, and Paul Devlin over at Slate hopes the same resurgence will happen for that other men's furnishing of bygone days: the tie clip. His Elegy for the Tie Clip is entrancing, and definitely worth the read.

Who is this attractive man?
And speaking of style...wait, is that?...no, it couldn't be. Wait, yes, yes it is Marc Jacobs looking incredibly dapper, and dare I say normal in a tuxedo at the CFDA awards. Wow! Way to lose that shlumpy look cold turkey! So happy to see the white sneaks and oversized sweaters are gone MJ...you're looking hot! Maybe even giving Tom Ford a run for his money? Who knows...? For full coverage of the stylish red carpet at the CFDAs, Platinum Blonde Life has an excellent post.
