Poetic & Chic's Paper Anniversary!

champagne_610.jpgOooh - yes, pour me some!

Yes, today is the first anniversary of Poetic & Chic! A first anniversary is known as the "paper" anniversary, where you're supposed to give monogrammed stationery or something, but since this is more of a "birthday" (if a website can have a birthday) I'll just stick to champagne.

While my actual posting began a little bit later than this, I wrote July 16th in my agenda as "P&C 1 year"...so this is the date I'm sticking with. I cannot belive it's been a year - I usually get bored with a project so quickly that it amazes me that every day I still get inspired, intrigued, and excited by the goings-on in the blogosphere that I have come to enjoy.

Day-to-day, I still sometimes wonder if anyone actually reads this site other than my sister and a handful of friends, but I'm beginning to see a growing response for my little corner of stylish musings. I enjoy writing and I've always had a dream of getting into publishing and launching a magazine. For years I'd watch print mags come and go, thinking: "there has to be a way to do it myself..." but fear of the unknown kept preventing me from exploring it. Then, I started hearing about "blogs".

What are blogs? I pondered. Who cares to read the daily minutiae of perfect strangers? Why would anyone think that's entertaining to someone else? I started poking around, but really had no idea how blogging worked - even when I started! But I found that the blog world is both vast and specific - everyone seems to be talking about something out there. And, what's more, people are reading it! I thought: do I really have anything to say? I guess I do - on art, fashion, home, crafts, design, trends... and I make stuff all the time - maybe someone should know about that.  And why not add a few other features to make it more magazine-like? Why couldn't I do it?

So, I did. I don't know anything about coding websites or domains or bandwith or whatnot, but I figured it out where I needed to - that's what being a one-woman show is all about. So, here I am one year and over 200 posts later - and I'm pretty damn proud of the whole thing. Oh, and then there's my alter-ego Ms. P&C too, isn't she something? If only I could be half as fabulous. Where did she come from anyways?

Here's to another year of Poetic & Chic! Thank you everyone for all of your inspiration, encouragement, and support. Oh, and thanks for reading!
