The Mexico Dress

One of the first posts I ever did on P&C was for the "Italy" Dress - one of my favorite projects in On The Make. Overall, I just like making quick dresses that are easy and fun to wear. The current offering is this one by McCalls #5465... It's the perfect shift dress that's oh-so-popular these days, yet it has some really fun sleeves that can be either gigantic or minimal. You can also play with lengths which is a bonus.
I'm leaving for Mexico in the morning, and thought this would be a great, easy beach cover-up; I can't take a lot of sun, so the sleeves are great, but it's still short enough to keep cool. I also made a quick sash to tie at the waist, because sometimes a shift dress doesn't have quite enough shape!
I picked a fun print that's a big summertime floral, but the brown & turquoise combo aren't as obnoxious as a usual beach-y floral. I also already have some brown J. Crew flip-flops that will go with it perfectly. (So, I know this picture doesn't really do it justice, you'll just have to trust me - it's adorable!)
Hopefully for the Fall I'll find the time (um, like three hours) make it again in a knit or jersey, which would be great for work. I'm sure my sister's going to ask me for one too...and then it begins! Gosh, waiting lists are hard to manage!
