Autumn Leaves Start to Fall

Marc Jacobs - Fall 2007And so it's September... Where has the year gone? Just a moment ago I was enjoying the summer sunshine and now I'm getting ready to buy tights, blazers and gloves. I love dressing for fall - it's when the designers pull out all the stops on fabrications and embellishments, not to mention the best colors of the spectrum. Everything is rich, luxurious, sumptuous, and relaxed.
Over the next few days I will be posting my favorite trends of the Fall 2007 season, and maybe even a few looks that shouldn't have been shown on the runway...stay tuned! I would like to state for the record that I am choosing to post about Fall during the Fall season because while the fashion insiders may post about the current show season, I want to post about the season that's actually relevant right now. What's in the stores? What should people be looking for when they shop? I know a lot of my in-the-know fashion blogger counterparts will surely turn their nose up at this outré display of quotidien sympathies, but I don't really care. After all, who reads about fashion during show season except the people that either a) work in the industry, b) have nothing better to do, or c) want to upstage everyone they know by being so much farther ahead of the trend.
Speaking as someone who used to work in the industry, I never really enjoyed discussing fashion six months ahead of its relevancy, so I'm going to write about it when I want to - like right now.
Overall, I really enjoyed the Fall 2007 shows, and while I'll post some of my favorite looks in a while, my standout collections must include: Andrew Gn, Chado Ralph Rucci, Marc Jacobs, Lela Rose, Alberta Feretti, Carmen Marc Valvo...and ever since Balenciaga sent all those adorable blazers down the runway I've been trying to decide which one I must have.
Apart from these though, I did notice a lot of interesting ideas in color, embellishment, and textiles that I'll be calling out...please be sure to let me know what you think!
