Weekend Bliss

sunset%20victorians2.JPGThis weekend was one of the best I've had in a long time. Why? No particular reason, really. I was able to relax, spend time with friends, sleep late, shop, enjoy some great meals, and just enjoy myself overall.

On Friday, I met some friends at Florio for some wine while we waited (ahem, 2 1/2 hours!) to be seated at the apparently white-hot SPQR. Dinner there was delicious, and my friend Meg and I had an intense caucus on the unusual chocolate panna cotta. The verdict is still out, however.

Saturday brought out the sunshine which was nice to see. It's been so stormy here that I almost forgot what the sun looked like! To take it all in, I went on a nice long run at Crissy Field, pausing to watch the surfers catch some huge swells under the Golden Gate Bridge. No, Mavericks it was not, but still highly impressive.

Then, I went shopping and got this fab ring at Banana Republic which is my new favorite thing.

Saturday night I met another friend and enjoyed some great wine at Amelie before going to Bar Johnny for their fabulous flat iron steak and garlic-truffle fries. Yum!

Sunday allowed me to sleep late, enjoy a lazy morning reading books, and make a nice breakfast. I finally motivated in the afternoon to get some errands done and take in more of the blissful sunshine. Just as the sun was setting, I caught a golden glimpse of these Victorians that I had to capture.

To cap of the utterly delightful few days, I snuggled onto my couch to catch the first installment of PBS' "Complete Jane Austen" on Masterpiece Theatre. And if you caught Persuasion last night, you too were probably caught up in the incredibly handsome Rupert Penry-Jones as Captain Wentworth...swoon!

Now, with weekends like these, who wants to go back to work?
