Go to the Library

It often happens in the blogosphere that people *think* they come up with a new, wonderful, wholly-unheard-of idea, but really...someone else thought of it before them. Case in point: the current trend of my fellow bloggers coming up with Amazon shops and lists on their sites.
I have always loved this idea! A much better way to keep your books, films and music organized and available for your fans to peruse. Luckily, my website host has always offered this capability and P&C has had a "Library" since Day 1. True, it's always been buried under the heading "Etcetera" on the sidebar, but with the current popularity I decided to devote some time and attention to my library and re-vamp it a bit.
So, the inspiration all comes full circle! Thanks blogger babes! "P&C Library" and "P&C Films" are two new sections you can see in the navigation bar at the right.
The Library section has the original three categories I've had since the beginning, featuring "art & fashion," "literature," and "delicious." The first category rounds up the many fashion, design and art monographs I have in my collection. Foremost among these is the Kyoto Fashion Institute's tome Fashion - this book is more often available as a two-volume edition, but I have the original big, fat, copy of delicious imagery. This book has helped me through many an assignment during fashion school and career - I cannot tell you how valuable it is! But then, every book on this list is valuable. All of them are worth your time and attention. The second category lists most of my favorite works of literature (and yes, smarty-pants I have read them all,) and the third category groups my favorite works of culinary writing and cook books.
The Films section is entirely new and I'm really very excited about it. I've put together three categories: "fashion films," "just for the dress," and "other favorites". If you've read P&C with any regularity you'll know that I'm a big film-freak. I love all film, but especially films where fashion or costuming play an important role. So, I've provided a listing of some of the best fashion films, from documentaries to cinema; these are both my favorites and films commonly considered fashion touchstones among designers and style-makers. The second category is a smaller one, but I think a lot of fun. When you think of a famous dress in film, from Marilyn's pink taffeta to Rita's Jean Louis, they're all here. At least, the one's I could immediately think of - if you have another, please let me know! The third category is simple enough, just a continuing list of some of my personal favorites - some I may have mentioned here on the site, but others may be totally unknown. But regardless, there they are for you to check out...
So perhaps the library will grow again? Music? Products? I'm not really sure I want to do too much of that since it's not really my thing, but I love what Chic & Charming is doing with all of that! Please visit the lists and let me know what you think...I'm pretty proud of them! Enjoy!

After some additional consideration, I decided to break out a new list... "teen scene" of my favorite teen movies. Okay, so I know there's a lot others would want to put on this list, and I've probably seen them too, but these are the ones I love the most - from my adolescence. I did enjoy those early-2000s "classics made into teen flicks" like 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Clueless, etc... but this list is what's close to my heart.
