Ten Things Purple Shoes by poeticchic
One of the best ways to jump on a seasonal trend without losing all sanity is to invest in one great statement-making accessory. Often this is a handbag, but since I wear simple clothes I like to go for the personality in my footwear. We all know that purple is the color of choice this Fall, but it's an easy color to over-do; then, the nausea of over-exposure will likely sicken you to your own wardrobe. So, in an effort to keep the wardrobe exciting and on-budget, I recommend investing in a great pair of purple shoes!
This edition of Ten Things (done for the first time via Polyvore!) is devoted to the plentiful harvest of grape, plum, and purple footwear. I've heard some feedback that the Ten Things can be a bit out of budget for some readers, so I'm happy to say that designers at all levels are offering the color so there is certainly something for everyone!
Clockwise from the top:
Platform Bootie by Stuart Weitzman, $355 at Neiman Marcus
There is just something endearing about this shoe. I love a stacked wood heel because it's casual but can also be worn to work. True, booties do make some people run and hide, but I think this could be worn with trousers or jeans and will still be eye-catching.
Marc by Marc Jacobs pump, $345 at Piperlime
A Piperlime pick from Rachel Zoe and I completely agree! This violet color is a great neutral - a little dose of color, but muted enough to be great for work. Marc by Marc Jacobs always goes for comfort, not to mention durability too. A great investment pair.
Ralph Lauren Collection Cathrine Pump, $525 at Neiman Marcus
Perfect purple suede and a ladylike shape - a new classic! Wear with skirts and tights - plaid trilbys with pheasant feathers are entirely optional!
BCBGirls Wish 2 Pump, $110 at Piperlime
A little snakeskin for texture, and a little ombre effect on the color. This was one of the first pairs I chose for this roundup. A great price point and a lot of personality! Because they aren't solid purple, this pair could even be stretched into early spring styles...
Jimmy Choo Round Toe Mary Jane, $760 at Bergdorf Goodman
A modern Mary Jane shape featuring raised sides and a shorter strap across the vamp. It falls in line with the cutout-Oxford styles that have come up this Fall, but stays with the familiar MJ shape that none of us will pass up! This shape also looks vintage - a little delicate and old-fashioned. I'm thinking knitwear...
Sam Edelman Mara Boot, $159 at Piperlime
Yes, another suede bootie in purple! This one is really just for fun. I like the gathered sides and Sam Edelman crafts a fantastic shoe for the price point.
Yves Saint Laurent Patent Pump, $650 at Bergdorf Goodman
Okay gorge. A deep ombre plum in patent leather with a very wearable shape and heel height. Lovely! Great with a little sheath and some patterned tights, or with some smart wide-legged, cuffed trousers. These are pricey but you'll still have them in your closet in ten years.
Boutique 9 Giganta, $145 at Piperlime
This was another pair that immediately caught my attention. I love the mix of purple suede with the black calf, as well as the triple-strap feature on the Mary Jane shape. The buttons are adorable, and the brogueing on the trim makes them look menswear inspired. I've been really impressed by the quality and design of the Boutique 9 line by Nine West. They are really fantastic shoes for the money!
Christian Louboutin Alta Nodo Platform D'Orsay, $995 at Neiman Marcus
Yet another purple suede bombshell, and this time in an updated D'Orsay shape. I love the knot at the toe! Trendy, yes, but if you had these you wouldn't need another trend shoe until the summer...
Report Quinn, $75 at Piperlime
Lovely for work! Their feminine style would be the perfect counterpoint for some menswear-inspired looks. Watch-plaid trousers, a vest, a scarf tied like an ascot... a polished shoe for not a lot!
