Ten Things: Big Clutches!

Okay, so I'm back to doing my Ten Things the old-fashioned way. I wasn't too keen on how the Polyvore method functioned, plus the images were way too small! So, here I go with the linkage...

Today's Ten Things is all about Big Clutches. I've written about large clutches before, but the trend seems to have grown and I couldn't be happier! I love the idea of having a simple, streamlined pouch that can be tucked up under the arm. Most days I emerge from the house with a handbag AND a tote - I have my essentials, plus shoes, computer, lunch, umbrella...what-not. So, a chic clutch is a fantasy! Luckily I get to indulge on weekends...

These clutches are big though; no petite miniaudieres here! The larger scale is bold, cool, statement-making, and graphic. The perfect touch to an otherwise-ordinary outfit.

This clutch is what started my hunt. It appeared in a Banana Republic email promo, and now I have to go back and visit it all the time. J'adore! It's simple, but the quilted ribs give it added surface interest, and the way they're arranged makes the look retro-deco.

I cannot tell you how long I've coveted this Heidi bag from Kooba! The luscious leopard, the jaunty wrist strap, the pleating, the buckle... I have admired from a afar for a long time. Sadly, the price tag has always kept me from getting closer, but now the Heidi is on sale!

There's just something about this bag from Kate Spade. It's a little preppie, a little mod, a little retro, but still very modern altogether. It's just like the street in the West Village whose name it borrows: a little of this, a little of that, a lot of personality. Use it on the shoulder or tuck in the chain for hot clutch action.

I think I like the Mick for how tough it looks. Shiny, studded, slouchy...it's casual but commanding. The best part is, it's Tory Burch but the monogramming is kept to the interior lining so it's totally non-descript. This one is meant for the working girl too - it features an interior cell phone pocket to keep your e-self handy.

Purple is indeed the color of the season, especially when paired with clean, mod shapes. Michael Kors offers this Berkley Patent Clutch in deep purple to keep your accessories on-trend. I love the square cut-out handle, and the price point is fantastic!

Botkier makes some fabulous bags. I've been a big fan of their shoulder bags for some time, but I love this clutch too. Appropriately called the Gemmma, this darling features a large center gem on the fold-over. I love the silver bubble leather!

I'm not immune to the charms of this layered Phillip Lim confection! The neutral base makes it very wearable, while the purple and red flaps add texture and a graphic punch. It's also in crinkled patent leather which is one of my favorite materials for shoes & handbags. I think I *need* this one!

L.A.M.B. has put out any number of fabulous large clutches this season, but I decided to go with this one because of its bright color (which can be worn well into spring), and because it is devoid of any tell-tale L.A.M.B. branding, but still maintains a brand-signature shape! Lovely and large at 15" across, this will definitely grab some attention!

I would be remiss not to mention an offering from Mr. Jacobs in this category, don't you agree? MJ has many choices here, but I decided to go with this fabulous casual options from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It's the perfect thing for the girl running around in tall boots with her jeans tucked in....aka: everyone!

Finally, I have to close with Lauren Merkin who is one of my favorite handbag designers. Her new Tatum shape is bigger in scale than her usual "going-out" clutches, making it perfect for everyday! I loved the richness of this burgundy leather, but on her website you're the boss! Go ahead and choose whichever color you want!

Clutches are so fantastic!! They just seem to make any outfit so chic! My favorite from above is the red BR. Love it. And perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

PS I left you a comment back on my blog about the dollhouse post... But here it is, as well:

Oh My Goodness, Ms. P&C!

That is too cool! Don't you just LOVE when you, as an adult, randomly run into a toy or book that you had as a kid?? It really is the best.

I had a similar experience with a Strawberry Shortcake stove recently. I was totally transported back in time.

And PS...Why HAVEN'T they created new dollhouses in 20 years? Oh well...these are still cute. :)

Miss P&C, several of these are very cool, especially the Kate Spade Perry Street clutch. (You are probably shocked and amazed we are fond of the "preppy clutch!')

The Berkley patent from Michael Kors is also extremely snappy, we could be lusting after that one in no time!

Grins and Giggles at you for the rest of the week!
