Week 52 Rescue

Hi everyone! Welcome to week 52 - as useless as it is - and since I'm in a serious case of Monday short-week "blahs", I really have no patience to entertain all of you. (Not that I don't love you, but I just can't do it myself.) So, instead of cooking, I'm ordering take-out! Here's some great links I've enjoyed over the past few days...

Louis Brooks, 1920 from Gatochy's BlogThe fabulous blogger who mysteriously goes by "Gatochy" is one of my favorite people in the blogosphere. She keeps more than a handful of blogs, posts consistently, and while the content is mostly visual, it's always provocative, beautiful, and usually from another time. I loved this post of "black & white" flappers and other images from the 1920s. Racy, fun, and elegant all at once.

In one of their "Best of 2008" posts, Apartment Therapy offers a roundup of cleaning tips and tricks for all sorts of different things. Martha Stewart would call all of these "good things", but since they're from AT, you can actually get down use them. Perfect for the long holiday weekend when you want everything fresh for the new year!

Hosting or attending this Wednesday? Remember your manners - both as a guest and as a host! Decorno published this uproarious comment left by someone who clearly hates being discriminated against as a guest. Personally, I agree: it's really gross to ask party guests to remove their shoes, especially when they spend so much money on them!

Hostess with the Mostess put together an amazing group of champagne-based deserts that will be perfect for New Year's Eve. Sure to impress, these are light, sophisticated, and simple but look very complex indeed.

And, for the post-bash, the lovely Jill at Trend de la Creme offers a selection of useful and stylish sleep masks to help you get rid of those post-holiday hangover dark circles.

And in the "random stuff" department: Another of my favorite blogs, The Mid-Century Modernist, found these amazing salt & pepper shakers...look familiar? Yeah, Jonathan Adler wishes he made them!

So I know a lot of people have mentioned this lately, but if you haven't made it there yet you really need to visit Fifty People, One Question. It's a film project where the interviewers do "man on the street" type questions with whomever the run into. The result is simple, sweet, and really stunning.

Monsieur IV by Blanca GomezSpeaking of stunning, the Black*Eiffel blog always offers something really beautiful. For instance, these prints by an artist named Blanca Gomez who sells her work on Etsy. Simple, graphic, cartoonish in a very mid-century way... lovely!

Via the gorgeous and very San Francisco Oh Happy Day blog by Jordan Ferney, I clicked through to Eddie Ross' blog. Remember him from Top Design? Well, his blog is great too! Via the Eddie Ross blog I clicked through to the All the Best blog - a blog of simple interviews with creative people who share their favorite things.

Don't you just love it when people take you new places?

Hello, My Dear Annie :) Thanks for the link love. How is it that we live within driving distance from one another and can't seem to find time to meet up!?

Have a great new year! You deserve it!!!
