Duckie does Otis

Call me a child of the 80s, but every time I listen to Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness" I think of Pretty in Pink. What can I say? It's normal for someone who was raised at the table of Brat Pack. I know some of my readers are a bit younger and therefore have a pure listening history of the great tune by the great Redding, but for those of us of a certain age, this is what you think of...

John Cryer has of course moved on to the very smart Two and a Half Men, but will anyone ever think of him as anything other than Duckie? Better question: when will the producers of Two and a Half Men get Molly Ringwald to do a cameo and have John Cryer do Otis again...? Now THAT would be prime time history.

Did you know...? Not to ruin your high school fantasies of Andrew McCarthy and everything, but, in the original ending of Pretty in Pink, Duckie was the knight errant. Original test audiences didn't like the ending, so they changed the 80's-pastel-knight errant-hero to the preppie, not the new-waver. Food for thought.

Anyways, this song has been in my head these days, ergo so has this scene. So just go with it and enjoy...
