West Coast Coutorture Bloggers!

Sarah from StyleIt, Jill from Trend de la Creme, & Crosby from PR CoutureWhat can I say, when Julie Fredrickson suggests I meet her someplace I tend to show up... So, last night I was only too eager to attend a rather-impromptu gathering of San Francisco fashion/beauty bloggers from the Coutorture network. Well, Julie and her Coutorture girls (Sarah and Megan - assistant editors) were in town and we all just HAD to get together - how often do the planets align again?
Apart from where to meet, my main question of course was, "what the hell am I going to wear?" What does one wear to meet some of the chic-est, most fashion-forward, cultured and intelligent dames in the blogosphere? Now that is a question!
We met at Anzu in the Hotel Nikko, and after much deliberation I threw together one of my usual high-low ensembles: Gap jeans (bought on sale for $22), my new Philip Lim-Gap blouse, Louis Vuitton trench coat, Lauren Merkin Eve clutch, and my pièce de résistance: black and white spectator pumps from the Dior runway in spring 2004. Don't even ask how I got those, but they usually live a humble life inside a box in my closet. Sometimes, certain shoes just ask to be worn...

My shoes don't lie - Dior Spring 2004Fast forward to 7PM... After a few wires getting crossed about exactly which part of Anzu we were to meet in, we all finally gathered together with full glasses. It felt like coming home.
All I can say is: WOW. I feel so incredibly privileged to be counted among the talent that comprises the Coutorture Network. Everyone was so chic, yet wholly unique in their style. You would think a bunch of fashionistas getting together would be catty - full of those head-to-toe once-overs as seen in The Devil Wears Prada or something equally pedestrian. Not so with these ladies. It was all so relaxed, full of laughter and great stories. Even re-applying lipgloss became a topic of conversation... "What lipgloss is that? Ohhh...Nars? What color - I love Nars!" I will say that I was happy that Julie admired my shoes though - she's a tough woman to impress.
I loved putting faces to the blogs of some of my local faves like Crosby from PR Couture, Jill from Trend de la Creme, or Catie from Cuffington. To be honest, I felt like a rockstar when the one and only Jill Sherman asked the group: "Okay, so who's Annie Wilson?" Would it be too Miss Piggy to say: "MOI!"
I also got to meet the girls from M.I.S.S. Crew, Kim from J'Adore Couture, the lovely Traci from The Fashionista and Baby, and Jeanne from Periodic Elements of Style. I had no idea that Jeanne is single-handedly debunky beauty myths with her quirky product experiments... love it!
Thanks so much to Coutorture for putting together such a memorable time. I definitely feel more in-network instead of just out on my own here on the left coast. I am lucky to have found a whole new crew of acquaintances that I hope to keep running into around town, at parties, museum events, and maybe even...shopping?
