Morning Glory!

Miss Melanie over at Platinum Blonde Life inspired me with this one... On Monday she posted about her favorite beauty products, which can really tell a lot about a person. So, here's my own Polyvore group of some of my daily products, but I wanted to bring in more of my morning routine. As you'll see, I definitely mix high and low every day.

One thing to note - yes, I do have a great robe from Anthropologie, but it's more than a few years old and I've been lusting after this silk print version that's in the stores right now...since anything can happen on Polyvore, I thought I'd go for the one I wanted!

Overall, I tend to stick to the basics: Secret, Crest, Oil of Olay SPF 30, Cetaphil... you can get all of this stuff at your corner Walgreens. It's proven to be quality product - these brands have been around for ever, and I can tell you that, dollar for dollar, they really work.

Then, it's on to the department stores' cosmetics counters for more. Being a pragmatic girl on a budget, please know that I would not spend the money on these if they weren't great. I love Bliss' Vanilla and Bergamot Body Buff in the shower - it smells like vanilla (and boys love that,) and makes your skin super-soft. My sister got me going on Creme de la Mer last Christmas and I firmly believe that this is something everyone should have in their medicine cabinet - men too! A tiny little bit is all it takes, and one jar lasts at least six months. Another super-star in my collection is the Rene Furterer volumizing mousse - it lifts and holds and makes my hair huge, and it does it without drying out my hair. Expensive, yes, but this is amazing shit.

My makeup is NARS - all NARS, all the time with the exception of my mascara which is the fabulous Diorshow. I cannot say enough good things about this mascara. My lashes are already pretty long, but when I put this on and check the profile, I swear there's another half-inch on there that wasn't there before. (To be fair, I did try the NARS mascara, but I hated that it has a fragrance in its formula - why does mascara need fragrance? It's not like someone's going to smell your eyelashes, right?) For everyday colors, I use a combo of NARS cream eyeshadow in Corfu, as well as the classic eyeshadow in Ondine, with a smudge of Bali or Lulu in the lash line. It's an easy look and not too done-up.

Undies by Gap Body. What can I tell you, their cottons feel great and I love the girls' low rise short. So cute! My fragrance is Hermès: Jardin Sur Nil. I've worn this ever since they launched it a few years ago and I'm so completely in love with it. It smells so good, but once I put it on I don't notice it, which is the way fragrance should be. During the colder months I do switch it up a little, and I sometimes reach for Coco by Chanel - another classic that smells as luxurious as it does sexy.

Last Christmas my sister gave me a Jessica Kagan Cushman scrimshaw bracelet that says "Fashion can be bought...style one must possess." I love it and it's now a part of my everyday wardrobe. That, and my Louis Vuitton Inclusion ring in black. I also recently found a fantastic carved rose ring at Forever 21 - it's huge, chunky, and a big pop of color. The best part? It only cost $3. I treated myself to both white and red. When not wearing that ring, I change it up with any one of Marc by Marc Jacobs' glitter rings...also from the bargain bins.

Then, I'm out the door with my Oliver Peoples' sunglasses, a great bag (yes, sometimes it's a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30,) my Shuffle for those crowded mornings on the bus, and a great book for those mornings when I can actually sit and read on the bus...

I used to wear Un Jardin Sur le Nil! Now I switched for Cartier (Le Baiser du Dragon) - its main advantage is it fits a man too! So I wear the same perfume as my husband!
