Kate Moss for YSL Parisienne"Parisienne - The essence of a woman who is incredibly free—she is not from Paris, but Paris adopts her. She knows how to love, how to live. Parisienne is the fragrance of ultra-femininity and sensuality, built with notes of blackberry, damask rose, and sandalwood. The grand floral with a woody structure is luminous even in its mystery."
If you went to Sephora.com and looked up YSL Parisienne, that's the description you'd find. Intriguing, mysterious, provocative, and a little bit exciting; in other words - flirtatious. That's fine. In fact, "flirtatious" is the essence of fragrance when you really think about it. So then how does one reconcile that with the new film campaign for the same perfume?
If you've seen the ad spots (and how could you miss them), YSL Parisienne would have you believe that if you wear the perfume, your life will be so much more than just flirtatious. Just one spritz and you'll go riding in the back of a chauffeur-driven luxury car around the City of Lights in a hevy-breathing state of rapture and tousseled hair. They would have you believe that the scent is so awesome that you'll be having multiple orgasms (with a phantom lover) on a bed of lush roses while wearing a leather boustier and stilettos. All set to a soundtrack of gutteral guitar riffs in an oh-so-sexy retro beat.
In other words, you become a chic millionaire supermodel-sex godDESS, in a world of pale pink, black leather, and luxury. Hot, steamy, voyeuristic, and rich...and in Paris. Or, as the tagline says: "Parisienne. Living and loving in the moment."
How advantageous! And at just $39 an ounce, sign me up!
