More Fun with Ikea Clips Frames (and Darling Clementine!)

Darling Clementine cards with Paris map background.Like everyone else, I fell madly in love with Darling Clementine's collection of Frenchy-Le French greeting cards. So simple, so graphic, so retro, so chic...what's not to love? Of course, I'll go for anything that's red and black and French all over, so I had to get a few for my own collection. But, unlike most people, I saw the artistic possiblities more than the stationery ones.

I instantly thought that these cards (I only got 4, but the complete set is a series of 12,) would be great framed in a series in a cute way. So, once again I called upon my favorite Ikea Clips frames to pull them together. This time I used the 5" x 7" size, so that the petite cards could have a fun background to show them off.

At Paper Source, I found two options in their wrapping paper: a Paris Monumemts map (how perfect!) and a simple graphic of red and beige lines on a black background. Both were perfect for these cards, so I went ahead and used them to do both horizontal and vertical designs.

Hung in a group of four, these would be perfect in a small space such as an entry or short hallway, or on one of those ackward walls in the bathroom. A dash of color, graphic interest, and a soupçon of Parisian style - which is always in good taste. Plus, you'll have the additional glory of creating your own unique art piece for very little cost!

Darling Clementine cards are available on the fabulous GreetQ website and on Etsy.com. Ikea Clips Frames are available in a multitude of sizes, but the smaller sizes come in a perfect set of four for less than $3. Wrapping sheets from Paper Source run about $3 - $7 each, depending upon your selection.

See my other post about Ikea Clips Frames and homemade art here: a post I did earlier this year. I have to say though, my method for hanging the Clips Frames isn't foolproof - you really do need to figure it out on your own. I hold mine to the wall where I want it to be, mark the center top with a pencil and then hammer a nail in about 1/4" below that mark. Most of the time this works, but it's not a guarantee! Experiment and you'll figure it out though.
