Pink Tree

It's baa-aack... Yes! The crazy wonderful Dr. Seuss meets Charlie Brown tree lot that is my pink Christmas tree. I didn't do it last year, so I felt the time had come to dig out the branches and really give it a try once again.

I love it, if only because it shows my over-exuberant side of design, but also because it's different and solves a space dilemma I have in my apartment. There's really no where to put a proper round tree, so this one works because it climbs up the wall in just about two feet of space.

I wrote about this tree a few years back, and while the pictures in that post are just awful, the process is sound. (But I now have better ornaments, and have done away with the paper magnolias.) Actually, I should have paid closer attention to the how-to aspect when putting mine together this year. I was a little bit lazy and distracted, so instead of really wrapping the branches closely, I did them more loosely, just trying to get light everywhere. Also, I committed a big tree decorating no-no, and my Mom will be upset when she hears about this one. I didn't stage. No. I know you're supposed to pull everything out of the ornament boxes, look over everything together,  and do things methodically according to size. Instead I just pulled ornaments direct from the box and put them on the tree. This is a rookie manuever and my favorite visual merchandisers will also scream, but oh well, I got it done.

The whole thing is mod, fun, and totally irreverent. I'd love to have a bright silver tinsel tree to make the pink really glow, but that will have to wait for the perfect future home. As it is, it looks like a big pink disco ball of glitter and bubbles in gold and pink and crystal - maybe a little messy after too much champagne. And what's not to love about that?
