Peonies

I never used to buy cut flowers. Ever. They're pricey, and since I was never home to enjoy them it seemed pretty foolish to indulge. These days, I'm home all the time, so I've decided that if I keep costs low I can treat myself since they really do make me happy just to look at them. Enter the fabulous flower section at Trader Joe's... If you catch the bouquets right when they're first coming in to the store (usually Friday or Saturday in my neighborhood,) the blooms can last quite a while. Also, they're super-cheap!

I got these peonies yesterday when they were tight little buds, and overnight they've exploded into their famously voluptuous balls of fluffy pink. They look so glamorous and perfect I can't even believe they're real. I doubt the peonies at Whole Foods or a fancy florist could do much better!

Oh I'm always tempted by the buckets of flowers they have at TJ's while I'm waiting in line! So gorgeous. Love peonies.

Ah, peonies. Arguably my favorite flower. I should mosey over to TJ's some day and see what's what.

mmm...we had peonies that look EXACTLY like this growing in our own backyard! imagine my delight. sadly - the blooms are now gone (the last two are in vases in my kitchen)...

athough we have never met, i thought of you while at trader hoe's this weekend....they only had two little bundles of slightly-browning peonies. So sad!

Oops that's Trader Joe's. I'm not making a statement. I love TJs. I guess that would make ME the Trader Hoe.....

TJ flowers are awesome. Their tulips were pretty much what got me through my final exams during last January. They're so cheap, and they totally last a week if you do the whole diagonal cut and sugar in the water stuff.
