What I Wore: To Meet Someone Famous

Dress: DKNY

Cardigan: Zara

Belt: Gap

Tights: Hue (brown, not shown)

Shoes: Nine West

Rings: Forever 21 & Kenneth Jay Lane

I'm one of those creative entrepreneurs who supports themselves by doing...just about everything. One of my jobs at the moment is at the fabulous Jonathan Adler store here in San Francisco. The product is heirloom-quality, the music is loud, and the people are fun - in other words, I love it! Luckily, Jonathan Adler himself came to visit us the other day during his current nation-wide book tour (promoting Happy Chic Accessorizing and Happy Chic Colors), and it was a serious thrill to meet him.

To be honest, it was a little strange. Here's someone I've been a fan of for literally years, watched on TV, followed his every move in the magazines...and all of a sudden he's standing in front of me and introducing himself as "Jonathan". Wow. It's moments like these that define "starstruck"; it leaves you a little dizzy, kind of off-balance, and as they said in the movie Bambi - "twitterpated".

For the important day I chose a rather preppy DKNY silk print dress from the Fall of 2008. It's brown, but with a fabulous mini-dot print in red, pink, mustard, and magenta. It's really short, kicky, and fitted, and while the tie at the neck makes it a bit buttoned-up for me, I still love it. The red cardigan and belt add the perfect finishing touches. I adore these red faux-snakeskin mary janes! They're among my favorites in my collection of red shoes; the animal print makes them really versatile, plus they have a platform and rubber sole so they're okay for long hours of wear.

A true pleasure of a person and an insightful artist, just spending a few hours around Jonathan Adler was incredibly exciting and inspiring. I love that he calls himself a "maker". I know a bit about that feeling, and the term is much more apt for folks like me and other creatives who simply cannot stop themselves from doing the next creative thing. But mostly, I loved that Jonathan loved my dog Bonnie...

Mr. Jonathan Adler has a special moment with Miss Bonnie Blue.

Super cute! Very Adler-esque.
