Postcard: Top of the Mark

"The Top of the Mark is located high in the sky on the topmost floor of the Hotel Mark Hopkins. The luxury and glamour of this unique room and the breath-taking panorama from its windows combine to make it America's most spectacular cocktail lounge." - Geo. D. Smith, Gen'l Manager
Once again it's Wednesday! Somewhere between Halloween and the Giants winning the World Series, I just lost myself completely in all the mayhem and when that happens, who can keep track of the days? It's hard enough to believe it's already November. Didn't we just celebrate New Year's Eve? Um, yeah.
Here's a fun postcard I found from the Top of the Mark - a timeless, fabulous (and famous - it's mentioned by Jimmy Stewart in Vertigo,) bar at the vertiginous heights of the Mark Hopkins Hotel here in San Francisco. Just the vintage graphic, cool design, and romantic imagery seems to capture the essence of classic San Francisco at the mid-century. This is the kind of spirit we're feeling around here at the moment, what, with a world championship baseball team and everything - it feels like the atmosphere of another time...with cocktails.
