Style Cinema: Annie Hall

The other day I saw an announcement that Parsons The New School for Design was hosting a film series much along the lines of our humble Style Cinema SF. (Of course, they're a big design university using the Tischman Auditorium, and rally people like Judith Thurman and Amy Fine Collins to give a lecture before each screening. But otherwise, yes I think we're about the same.) All jokes aside, I'd love to attend. The series is called "Fashion in Film: NYC" and the lineup began this week with a screening of Annie Hall.

Of course Annie Hall is one of those well-known fashion touchstones and because of this I've always given it a wide berth. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Besides, while I love the film, I find some other Woody Allen women to have more interesting fashion.

But then I read this amazing post "Annie Hall and Shopping Menswear: A Love Letter" by Jenna on Jezebel, recapping the screening and Judith Thurman's introduction. It's one of those posts where after reading one paragraph I thought: "Damn, I wish I'd written this!" Jenna, I bow to you. Please visit that post, you won't be sorry!

For our local Style Cinema SF, I'm currently working on some new film choices and hopefully will have an update for everyone soon!
