Postcard: Kobenhaven

If you read my 10 Things post over on Sacramento Street last week, you'll remember my love of old postcards. I do have quite a collection, so I thought I'd start sharing them here! Some will be just the picture front but if there's a good note from someone I know (or even a perfect stranger) I'll include that too. It's a strange little collection - a lot of them are cards I've found in bookstores or flea markets - I haven't been to nearly all of the places I've collected!
My personal preferences for a great postcard are a little corny, I admit. I love a scalloped edge (but no one does them anymore, sadly) and I also love a multi-panel view whenever possible. I like getting to see the sights in one glance. It's the best way to share the travel with the people at home! Some of the cards in the collection I like just for the image, some just for the age or rarity, while others are personal notes I simply cannot think of throwing away.
Which brings me to the first Postcard of the Week post, a postcard I wrote to my college roommates exactly 13 years ago this week. I was living in Paris at the time, but had traveled to Copenhagen with a friend. As I re-read the note I remembered that my excitement for heading home was soon overwhelmed by sadness at leaving Europe behind. If things had gone a little differently, I might still be there today!
