Land of the White Sky

While today was actually bright, warm, and sunny. Heretofore, summer in San Francisco has been at its most typical: freezing, forceful winds and a deep blanket of fog. The fog gets so heavy and damp that drizzle starts to form at times, and the entire city feels like it's been enclosed within a giant milk-glass bowl.
The whiteness is everywhere. Beautiful and unsettling, its misty presence has a spookiness that runs counter to everything summertime. But this is how it is around here at this time of year: mysterious white skies that make the rare sunny days all the more enjoyable.
