On the Make: Design*Sponge Pouf

The other day Deisgn*Sponge ran a post about how to make a fabric pouf, and I couldn't get it out of my head! Having all kinds of scraps from Sourdough, etc, I knew I had lots of options to make something fun and colorful, but would it look too crafty? That, plus the idea of working with a 12" upholstery needle to create a tufting scared me a bit.
But, I sucked it up, downloaded the wedge template, and got to work. The directions are pretty straight-forward and clear. Actually, I found the project to be pretty simple (but I sew quite a bit) except for the part where you create the tufting with the washers & buttons - that definitely worked up a sweat!

Overall, I'm really pleased with the result. The ample amount of batting (3 pounds!) makes it dense and soft, and perfect for sitting on the floor. When not being used as a pouf I have it as a toss pillow on one of my chairs, sharing all kinds of color and pattern with the room. See - even the DIY projects on Design*Sponge aren't all that difficult!
