P&C Questionnaire: Winona of Daddy Likey

Today we initiate a new recurring feature on Poetic & Chic which will be sung from the hilltops as the "P&C Questionnaire". Much like the famous Proust Questionnaire, the candid answers to these 10 questions will no doubt change over time, but for this moment they will provide insight into the minds of some of my most favorite creative people.

For the first P&C Questionnaire (which will now be posted every Monday - at least until I run out of people to get to do it,) I give you Winona Dimeo-Ediger of Daddy Likey Blog. Daddy Likey was one of the first blogs I ever read, and has been a consistent favorite all along. Therefore, it is only appropriate that she be the one to launch this new feature. Winona's own brand of humor is always highpoint of my day, and her questionnaire does not disappoint!

What is your occupation and how did you arrive at it?

I am a freelance writer, blogger, and author. I've written stories and poems and essays since I was a kid (sludge monsters were a favorite topic back then), but it was really my blog that opened every door for me as a writer.

Name three things that inspired you this week.

A trip to the beach, Celine Dion music videos, and my friend Becca's eggplant parmigiana.

What is your personal style "uniform"?

Right now I'd have to say tattered cutoffs, a black tank top, and a ridiculously large necklace.

Name one type of clothing, shoes, or accessory that always makes you stop and stare. Explain why.

Anything sparkly, because I am half raccoon.

Do you buy vintage? If so, what piece in your collection is your favorite?

I love vintage! My favorite piece is a bright purple silk blouse from the 70s. The color is so intense that every time I wear it someone grabs me by the arm and stutters, "That...that...that...is PURPLE."

Do you ever feel like you were born in the wrong time? If so, what era would you like to have lived in and why?

In fifth grade I bought a tie dye Volkswagen Beetle poster at my school book fair. It said "groovy" in pink letters at the bottom. I used to drift off to sleep staring at that poster and wishing I could marry AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys and we could use some of his massive earnings to buy a time machine and live a glamorous life together in 1960s London. Today I drive a Jetta and my boyfriend's name is Nick and it's 2010 and sometimes I still wonder, "What if?"

What current trend do you like the most?

Slowly but surely we're seeing a more diverse range of body types represented in the modeling industry, which is great. It would be even better if magazines didn't act like publishing photos of a size 12 woman should earn them a congressional medal of honor.

What current trend (in your opinion) cannot disappear fast enough?

Those perfect nonchalant straight-across hipster girl bangs. Only because I'm jealous. My cowlick seems to think it's 1985 and I'm working as a newscaster in Dallas.

What film could you watch over and over and still find something inspiring? Why?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off has the perfect combination of snazzy fashions and amazing attitude. So does Anne of Green Gables.

If blogging didn't exist, how would you fill your extra time?

I would probably write humorous 250-word fashion articles and distribute them to people on the street. I'd also learn to juggle.

What a great new feature! Like you, I've been a huge fan of Daddy Likey since the days when I first started reading blogs. Winona's answers really reflect what a hilarious and genuine personality she is. And hey, we're both Anne fans so that counts for something. :-)
