Loves It: Dr. Edna's Office
Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 6:35PM Sally Draper's got a pretty tough time at the moment. It doesn't help that her mother is a nymphomaniacal psycho-bitch-brat from the suburbs, but at least she's getting some help by way of Dr. Edna. I'd love to meet the person who didn't get completely absorbed into the colorful world of Dr. Edna's office. What an incredible set design!
Toys, games, the huge mural on the wall - everything is appropriately vintage, vibrant, and comforting. Check out the tube of Lincoln Logs, rolling telephone, and Raggedy Ann doll below the window. This space is so good, you can even smell the PlayDough. It feels like every pediatrician's office ever built, but better and more safe. It's a happy place, even if it's only the unhappy kids that get to see it. Even Betty Draper found a soft spot in her icy heart for the dollhouse. For me, I just love the streamlined shape of rusty-orange sofas, and their toss pillows in bright citron. Oh, and did you notice the barkcloth curtains? I sure did.
So, while I hope Sally finds her way out of her funk, I definitely look forward to future sessions with Dr. Edna.
