Postcard: Chamonix

Keeping in tune with my love of all things après-ski-glamorous, here is a postcard my friend Anne sent me from Chamonix about 10 years ago when she went there on a ski trip. I love this kind of postcard because of the multiple views, but also because it shows a bit of the town and a bit of the mountains - it's the perfect combination.
Discovered in the early 11th Century and known for being the host of the first winter Olympics in 1924, Chamonix-Mont Blanc is in the Rhone-Alps region of France, right near the border with Italy. Well-loved by skiers in the winter and hikers and climbers in the summer, Chamonix has a local population of only about 10,000 but welcomes about 5 million visitors each year.
