Current Distractions

There is a list of things I've written in my agenda because I simply cannot stop thinking about them. For this week, this list seems to be everything that would style every outfit, organize my messes, and satsify my soul all in one. I have no idea why, but they're nagging me so I thought I'd share.

I'm in love with these adorable little spice jars at Anthropologie. I've re-organized my pantry and I'm now all about making my spices more accessible. But, I cannot stand the look of the grocery store jars so these will be the perfect solution. I love that they're colorful and cute, and also ridiculously cheap!

I keep thinking about some classic flat correspondence cards from Crane & Co... SO preppy and not my usual thing, but there's really nothing better than these for making a great impression through a personal note. I'm lusting for a set with just my name in Engraver's font in black, on plain but creamy ecru. Maybe it's boring but it's never out of style. Plus, there are very few things that are quite so luxurious these days.

It seems like every time I put on an outfit these days I think that the only thing missing would be an amazing set of yellow beads. I want my own set of lemon drops to wear! For some reason I'm on the hunt for an otherwise non-existent necklace of yellow stones. The closest thing I've found is this necklace on Etsy, but I'd really prefer it in a double-strand for even more of a statement...

Ever since I got to browse through a copy of Louis Vuitton: 100 Legendary Trunks the other day, I have not been able to stop thinking about it. I've been hearing about this book for months, and to be honest, I was bummed I didn't get a copy for Christmas. Alas! It looks like I may have to treat myself to this beauty...and I won't regret the expense because it's simply phoenomenal!

If you're any kind of a regular reader on this blog, you've probably heard about my love of Bossa Nova music. So, you can imagine my delight when I ran across Bossa Nova and the Rise of Brazilian Music in the 1960s book the other day at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Full of re-prints of classic and little-known Bossa Nova albums, this tome is like a little trip back to Ipanema beach. Love!

And finally, Paris Between the Wars 1919 - 1939 - I saw this at my neighborhood bookstore and had to slam it shut because I was starting to get overwhelmed by all the beauty. This is one of my favorite periods in Parisian history - the art, the music, the cabarets, the Fitzgeralds and Murphys and Porters and Steins, the cafe society, the characters, the literature, and the politics... Le sigh.

Okay, list concluded. Perhaps now that I've affirmed the obsessions they'll leave me alone for a bit? Wishful thinking perhaps...
