A Beautiful Day in the Blogosphere
Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 10:12AM There’s lots of good stuff out there these days, so I wanted to round up a few of my current favorites.
I’m happy to say that The Visa Diaries is back and has a pretty good explanation of why rich people can never be cool. I think the theory works anyways!
Almost Girl takes you to the NYC edition of Première Vision – the penultimate textile show based out of Paris – and tells us why next fall (08-09) we’re forecasted to be in a complete haze of optimism, all while wearing “structured clothing free of restraint.” Is that possible? And speaking of new design, Modern Girl discusses the Cooper-Hewitt “Design for the Other 90%” exhibition that is absolutely fascinating. This show analyzes thirty humanitarian design projects that address basic needs such as shelter, health, water, education, energy, and transportation. This is applied design in the best sense of the term.
Conversely, Faking Good Breeding tells you why everyone gets the heebie-jeebies in an American Apparel store – well, at least I do, don’t you? Reading this post made me want to return a recent t-shirt purchase…who knew fashion could be so seedy?
And now for something sweet: I love Boudoir Betty because she knows a good thing, like chocolate-Guiness cupcakes. Yes, I think I’m going to have to try those! The other SF native on the web, Victoria of sfgirlbybay, shows off her crisp, airy apartment redux featuring a mix of vintage, home craft, and flea market finds. When should I tell her that I’m moving in? Finally, Sugarshock is working a girl-crush on Winona Ryder. It’s no wonder given the beautiful Vogue cover that’s hitting the newsstands! Sugarshock tells you how to get this makeup look at home using my current favorite NARS duo: Habanera.
Enjoy your week everyone!
